1. Services Provided

1.1 NM Recycling provides scrap metal recycling services including but not limited to:

  • Collection of scrap metal from domestic and commercial premises
  • Purchase of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Container and skip hire services
  • Factory and site clearance services
  • End-of-life vehicle recycling (as an Authorised Treatment Facility)

1.2 All services are subject to availability and our acceptance. We reserve the right to refuse any service or material at our discretion.

1.3 Service availability may vary by location. Not all services are available at all facilities.

2. Acceptance of Materials

2.1 We reserve the right to refuse any materials that:

  • We suspect may be stolen property
  • Contain hazardous substances we cannot legally handle
  • Are prohibited under relevant legislation
  • Present safety risks to our staff or facilities
  • Are not suitable for our processing capabilities

2.2 You warrant that all materials you bring to us are legally owned by you and are not stolen property.

2.3 You must comply with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, including providing appropriate identification and proof of ownership when required.

2.4 We may request additional information or documentation regarding the source of materials at our discretion.

3. Pricing and Payment

3.1 Prices for materials are based on current market rates and may change daily without notice.

3.2 All prices quoted are subject to final weighing, grading, and assessment of materials.

3.3 We reserve the right to adjust quoted prices if materials differ from descriptions provided or expectations based on visual inspection.

3.4 Payment terms:

  • Cash payments for transactions under £500 (subject to identification requirements)
  • Bank transfer for transactions over £500 (typically within 2 hours during business hours)
  • Account customers may be offered monthly consolidated billing

3.5 The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 prohibits cash payments over £500. We comply fully with this legislation.

3.6 All prices are subject to VAT where applicable.

4. Weighing and Grading

4.1 All materials are weighed on our certified weighbridges and weighing equipment.

4.2 Our weighing equipment is regularly calibrated and inspected in accordance with legal requirements.

4.3 Material grading is performed by our experienced staff based on industry standards and our internal quality procedures.

4.4 In cases of dispute regarding weights or grades, our records shall be considered final unless clear error can be demonstrated.

4.5 Customers may observe weighing processes but must not interfere with our operations or equipment.

5. Collection Services

5.1 Collection services are subject to availability and minimum quantity requirements.

5.2 Collection appointments are estimates and may be subject to change due to operational requirements, traffic conditions, or unforeseen circumstances.

5.3 You must ensure safe and legal access for our collection vehicles. We are not liable for any damage caused by accessing difficult or unsuitable locations that you have confirmed as accessible.

5.4 You must ensure materials are safe to handle and transport. Notify us in advance of any special handling requirements.

5.5 Collection charges (if applicable) will be agreed in advance. Free collection is offered for certain quantities and material types at our discretion.

5.6 Cancellation policy: Collections cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may incur a cancellation charge.

6. Container and Skip Hire

6.1 Containers and skips remain the property of NM Recycling at all times.

6.2 You are responsible for containers while on your premises and must:

  • Not overload containers beyond stated capacity
  • Use containers only for agreed material types
  • Not move or relocate containers without our permission
  • Ensure containers are accessible for collection
  • Not allow unauthorized persons to deposit materials

6.3 You are liable for any damage to containers beyond reasonable wear and tear.

6.4 Hire charges are calculated from delivery to collection. Minimum hire periods may apply.

6.5 If containers are placed on public highways, you are responsible for obtaining necessary permits from local authorities.

6.6 We reserve the right to refuse collection if containers contain prohibited materials or are overloaded.

7. Vehicle Recycling (End-of-Life Vehicles)

7.1 Our vehicle recycling service operates as an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) under End-of-Life Vehicle Regulations.

7.2 You must provide:

  • Valid identification
  • Vehicle registration document (V5C) where available
  • Proof of ownership
  • All vehicle keys if possible

7.3 We will provide a Certificate of Destruction (CoD) as required by law.

7.4 We will notify DVLA of vehicle destruction on your behalf.

7.5 Vehicles with outstanding finance cannot be accepted without finance company consent.

7.6 You must remove all personal belongings before vehicle collection. We are not responsible for items left in vehicles.

7.7 Collection of vehicles is subject to access and location. Additional charges may apply for difficult access or locations outside our normal service area.

8. Site Safety and Access

8.1 When visiting our facilities, you must:

  • Follow all site safety rules and instructions from staff
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment if entering operational areas
  • Not enter restricted areas without permission
  • Supervise any children or vulnerable persons at all times
  • Park only in designated areas
  • Not interfere with our equipment or operations

8.2 We reserve the right to refuse entry to our facilities or ask individuals to leave if safety rules are not followed.

8.3 You visit our facilities at your own risk. We maintain comprehensive insurance but are not liable for accidents caused by your failure to follow safety instructions.

9. Environmental Compliance

9.1 We operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and hold appropriate permits from the Environment Agency.

9.2 All materials are processed in accordance with waste management regulations and industry best practices.

9.3 We provide waste transfer documentation as required by law for commercial customers.

9.4 Customers must ensure materials are free from contamination that could present environmental hazards, or notify us in advance of any such contamination.

10. Liability and Insurance

10.1 We maintain public liability insurance and employer's liability insurance as required by law.

10.2 Our liability for any loss, damage, or injury is limited to the extent permitted by law.

10.3 We are not liable for:

  • Loss of income or business
  • Loss of anticipated savings
  • Loss of data or goodwill
  • Indirect or consequential losses

10.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10.5 You are responsible for ensuring materials brought to us are safe to handle and transport. You indemnify us against any claims arising from hazardous materials you have not disclosed.

11. Data Protection and Privacy

11.1 We collect and process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

11.2 Personal information collected includes:

  • Identification documents as required by Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013
  • Vehicle registration details for vehicle recycling
